Thread: NVIDIA - 500 Series support

Default NVIDIA - 500 Series support

I just installed a EVGA Nvidia GT520 and when I attempt to run Aerofly, it states that my video card failed to compile the Open GL Shader.

Is the Nvidia 500 series cards not supported in Aerofly 5? I would like to know before my I can no longer return the card to place of purchase.

    Hi,
thats sounds you have older drivers in your GT 520....
A look in your log-file ("tm.log" => in your Aerofly install folder) helps to locate your problem, pls post the first part (btw 1/3) from it.

Otherwise you can try it with a driver-update by yourself - but pls alltimes only from the graphiccard-website!
    http://www.nvidia.de/Download/index.aspx

Never trust or believe the windows-manager to update your drivers, maybe thats only finds windows or micros. products^^

    Good luck
and dont forget a little feedback, so or so

    Default Running

I got it running. Uninstalled and reinstalled and that fixed what ever the problem is.

    Second question.

My Nvidia GT240 with 500 mb ran better than my New EVGA GeForce GT520 2GB card. What is wrong with that? My frame rate is 35-40. Thats not okay. I am regretting upgrading the card. Their must be something that I can do.

Thank you for your help. Much appreciated.

Again this may be a driver issue. Always make sure you have the nevest driver from the Nvidia website installed!

The NVIDIA 520 is not really a fast card. If you have the extra money, upgrade to a 550 or better, it is really worth the money.

    Red face

    Hi,

    please take into account:
The first digit specifies the nvidia series, digit 2+3 specify the performance.
So the 520 is a newer series, but with less performance compared to a 240.
This is roughly spoken without details, you can find them at the nvidia site.

    Bandwith: gt520 64-bit, gt240 256-bit
    Speed: gt520 14.4 GB/s, gt240 70.4 GB/s
    Pixel rate: gt520 6.5 mrd/s, gt240 37.8 mrd/s

I my opinion the gt520 is not qualified for aerofly.

    Regards
    Karl-Heinz

    PS: Ipacs has been faster

I have a limitation on the cards that I can use. My system has a 400 watt power supply. So I am attempting to find on that will run on it and that narrows down my search. I really should get I new system, but, I have to get a couple more years out of it.
Do you guys have a reccomendation of a card in the 150 range that will run at 300 watts or higher? I know good question. Your help is much appreciated, thou. Thanks again rodeo for the information.

I can overclock my GT520. Would that do it. It is the EVGA Geforce GT520, "Exclusive Superclocked +20 MHZ on GPU clock" version. I don't know if that makes a difference or not.

    Hi,

If you add 20% to the data above, you're still far below the gt240 values.
Actually the gt520 is not a gamers card. I would not go with it, but rather return it and check for another solution.
What's about a new power supply? On the other hand we don't know the remaining configuration of your pc.
