    Default Setting the Exponential Function

I'm trying to use the Exponential Function to reduce stick sensitivity on the Controller around the neutral position, but I have had no success despite numerous attempts. I'm trying to do this in Easy Setup by changing the number in the Expo Column from something other than "0" for the specific control I wish to change, i.e., elevator, rudder, and aileron. However, it makes no difference whether I set the number to 100, or something between 100 and 0. I see the same high sensitivity in every case. Quitting and restarting AFPD after the change doesn't help. Should I be going about this differently? Do I need to do it in Expert Setup, and if so, how should it be done? The Manual offers no help in this regard.

    Thanks for any help.

Just to make sure: Did you tried the sensitivity for small deflections? Because the expo only changes the fuctions for the outputs, not the maximum rudder deflections ;-)
Normally it should work just fine, you are probably just configuring the wrong controller setup?!

    Jan,
    Thanks for your input.

Yes, it is the small deflections where I don't see any reduction in sensitivity . I'm not sure what you mean by the "wrong controller setup." I'm using the same set up that I use to designate which stick moves a specific control surface, i.e. the one shown under "Section 10.3 "Assigning Channels in Easy Setup Mode" on p. 15 of the manual. Is this not the right place?

With wrong controller setup I ment you could possibly just set the expo to another controller which is plugged...
I don't know either, I think you're doing it the right way...

How do you prove that there is no effect with your definition?
    Just by feeling or how?
    Which model is concerned?
    Kind regards

Primarily by feeling, but I have also tried to view the control surface responses on the ground using the rear view option (although I'm not sure how valid the latter approach is in a simulator). When I try to move the stick with similar, small deflections around the neutral position, I can see no difference in the sensitivity of the model response either in flight or in the degree of deflection on the ground regardless of whether the exponential set to zero or 100%. I see the same effect with all of the 5-6 models I typically use. Obviously, some models are much more responsive than others, but I am seeing no noticeable difference in response with a given model with or without expo. I would have thought that stick response would be dampened in these small movements giving a noticeably smoother flight responses - if such an effect is there it is so small that I can't detect it. Shouldn't the expo effect be more obvious; otherwise what good is it?

I really appreciate the suggestions - many thanks.
    Best regards,
    Bill

I never used "Easy Setup", so I can not comment it.
    What about "Expert Setup" mode?
    Kind regards Jürgen

Jurgen, you are 100% correct. Expert Setup is what it takes. Expo works fine now. Thanks so much for the suggestion.
